JOE BACHETTI LAUNCHES COMMUNITY-WIDE CANVASSING EFFORT AND DIGITAL PRIORITIES SURVEY FOR TECUMSEH RESIDENTS

TECUMSEH, ON June 4th, 2026 – Joe Bachetti has officially launched the next phase of his campaign for Mayor of Tecumseh today, with a community-wide door-to-door canvassing effort and the release of his in-depth digital Community Priorities Survey. Rather than beginning his campaign behind closed doors, Bachetti says he is taking his message directly to residents — one conversation at a time.

“Tecumseh deserves leadership that listens first,” said Bachetti. “This campaign is about hearing directly from the people who live here, raise families here, run businesses here, and want to see our community move forward. Before making promises, I want to understand what matters most to residents.”

Bachetti told AM800's The Kyle Horner Show, it's been one of the greatest honours of his life to serve the municipality.

"This morning, I filed my papers to run for the Office of Mayor in this fall's municipal election," says Bachetti. "I'm putting in the dedication, passion, and care that make our town so special. I want to see that continue in the future, and it's time."

Four Units As of Right - Listening to residents

The Deputy Mayor for the Town of Tecumseh wants to deny a proposal for four units as of right in established neighbourhoods.

On Tuesday evening, Joe Bachetti presented a notice of motion not to support a Housing Accelerator Fund initiative which would pave the way for four units in low-density residential neighbourhoods.

“As a council, we could consider looking at four units as a right, to me its four units as a wrong,” Bachetti told CTV News following the meeting.

Tecumseh council rejects proposal for temporary no-parking zone near busy intersection

A motion to explore temporary no-parking restrictions along Tecumseh Road near Lesperance Road, aimed at easing traffic congestion, has been denied by Tecumseh town council.

The proposal, tabled by Joe Bachetti, called on administration to investigate removing or limiting on-street parking near the intersection to create an extended right-turn lane and provide more space for vehicles to pull over during heavy traffic periods.

Bachetti argued the change would help reduce backups caused by ongoing construction projects in surrounding areas, including lane reductions at Banwell Road and the E.C. Row Expressway overpass.
